Who We Are
Launched on Veterans Day 2020, the Cornell Military Network (CMN) promotes Cornell University’s land-grant mission by organizing military-affiliated Cornell alumni across generations in support of the educational, professional, and social advancement of service-minded Cornellians. By definition, CMN’s constituency is broad and includes anyone who has served in uniform, performed civilian national defense work, or is interested in military affairs.
Cornell’s land grant mission includes a responsibility to teach its students military tactics. Founded in the wake of the U.S. Civil War, Cornell’s students, staff, and faculty have had military experience from the beginning. Cornellians continue to serve in a variety of military roles to this day.
Membership is open to anyone who has attended Cornell for at least a day, taught at Cornell, or worked for Cornell and who supports the purposes and goals of CMN.
Get Involved
Excited about the CMN’s mission, but unsure of how much time you can commit? The CMN is always seeking volunteers to serve on committees that help advance the CMN’s mission. These include Finance, Communications, Events and Programming, Alumni Relations, and Campus Stakeholders Committees.
More information on volunteer positions is available on CUVolunteer and in our constitution and bylaws below. Please reach out to the CMN Core team at cornellmilitarynetwork@cornell.edu with any questions.
