Over the next two years, I’m particularly excited to take learnings from our experience with the pandemic, and build on that to act in new, strategic, and inclusive ways — whether that’s something tactical like learning how to host hybrid events, so that programming is more accessible than ever before, or something intangible like taking stock of what class connections mean to us.
I’m also excited for you all to get to know the other members of the CACO Board, who are all incredibly dedicated current or former class officers. Stay tuned for more info on them as well as ongoing updates about what our committees are working on. Though the Board is new to the term, we are looking forward to hitting the ground running and want to update you on a couple items below.
Digital Alumni Publication
Cornell’s new digital alumni publication is under construction and will launch in the fall. As you may already know, Cornell Alumni Magazine ceased operation with its May/June 2021 issue, but its popular Class Notes are continuing and will have a home in the new publication. In the interim, the Class Notes, Grad Notes, and Alumni Death notices that would traditionally have run in CAM’s July/August 2021 issue are being hosted on the Alumni Affairs website and are now available. These links will be shared via the all-alumni newsletter next week. Please keep your classmates up to date by sending your news to alumni.cornell.edu/class-notes for inclusion in a future column!
While the new digital publication will be available to all alumni at no cost, we are planning a print version, available by paid subscription, to accommodate those who enjoy reading content in that format. Rates and more information will be available later in the summer.
Off-Campus Event Planning Guidelines
For over a year, the university, clubs and associations have adjusted to a new normal by bringing alumni amazing online content and programming. We know that you have all been working so hard behind the scenes to provide a place for people to turn to during uncertain times and appreciate all your efforts to connect classmates with one another. We are excited to share that we can again gather in-person, effective immediately. Please use these guidelines, which were created with current CDC recommendations and Cornell’s COVID-19 protocols in mind, as you start to consider and plan in-person events. The health and safety of our Cornell communities should continue to be a priority.
Keep your eyes out for this bi-monthly newsletter from CACO for more updates as we continue supporting class officers of all years!
Warm wishes,
Erica Healey-Kagan ’05
