Sharing my gratitude to be a Cornellian

Dear Class Officers,

Next week, on November 29, I will be joined by two current CACO Board Members, Yvette Lapompe '10 and Patty Grant '95, on a panel discussion exploring our volunteer journeys, not just as class officers, but also as members of various Cornell communities which we call home. As a volunteer, I love learning about others’ journeys that may be different than my own, but reflect the same spirit and commitment to Cornell. As these stories are shared, we hope that you will also discover opportunities for volunteering in ways that speak to your heart. All class officers are invited to join us for this discussion! Register by clicking here.

By now, I hope you’ve had a chance to get acquainted with the new alumni publication, Cornellians. We’re thrilled to report that Class Notes is one of the most popular sections! Since the site’s launch, there have been over 17,000 visitors to Class Notes! Kudos to all the Class Correspondents out there collecting stories and encouraging classmates to share their latest updates. Please keep submitting your updates and encourage others to do the same -- classmates love to read them! While Cornellians is currently only available online, information about subscribing to a print edition of the publication will be available in 2022.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I’m reminded of the many reasons I’m so grateful to be a Cornellian. I love reconnecting with old classmates just as much as I love meeting new friends and kindred spirits, and I’m so thankful to have a space where I can be a part of a vibrant community. Learning more about what’s happening on campus and how Cornell is advancing its mission always inspires me as well and I’m excited to see how Cornell’s new campaign, To Do the Greatest Good, will transform Cornell’s impact in the years to come. If you missed the launch, which highlighted some of the most compelling projects across academics and real-world applications, you can catch the recording here. I also encourage you to check out last week’s panel discussion on undergraduate affordability featuring President Martha E. Pollack, Vice Provost for Enrollment Jon Burdick, and recent graduates Efe Airewele '20 and Joe Anderson '20, moderated by campaign co-chair Tom Groos '78.

I also want to extend my deep appreciation, on behalf of the CACO Board, to the almost three hundred class officers who responded to our October survey. We value all of your feedback and love to hear what’s on your mind. Our Communications Committee is currently working through the responses and handing off relevant information to each of the other CACO committees so they can take action based on what you shared is most important to you. We look forward to sharing more information on the survey results with you in the new year.

I’m excited to see some of you in the CACO section at Red Hot Hockey in New York City! If I don’t see you at the game, I’m sending you warm wishes for a restful long weekend over the Thanksgiving holiday -- CACO is grateful for each of you.

Best regards,
Erica Healey-Kagan '05
