CACO logo and text that reads

Welcome Class Officers!

Thank you for volunteering to serve your class and Cornell, and welcome to the Cornell Association of Class Officers (CACO) family!  CACO was founded in 1905 as the governing body for the class councils and provides support, training, and tools to officers spanning 75 years of proud alumni. The CACO Board is comprised of experienced class leaders who serve, advise, and champion our fellow class officers. The CACO Board and Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D) staff are always available as a resource to you and your class.

Please keep reading for helpful CACO information and resources, from our website and Instagram handle to Homecoming and Zinck's Night celebration details.

As always: thank you for your class officer service, and Go Big Red!

All my best,
Julie Vultaggio ’02

Class Officer Responsibilities

While engaging classmates is the primary responsibility of all class officers, we are also asked to serve as role models and support higher level university priorities including:

Create a profile on CUVolunteer
Register for CUeLinks
Vote in the annual Alumni Trustee election
Annually, pay class dues
Make a gift to Cornell at a level of individual comfort each year
Attend your 5-year Reunion
Attend yearly in-person training (Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference)
Attend at least one class conference call per year

Check out Additional Resources

The CACO website is a one stop shop for resources to help you succeed in your role. It includes an overview about the CACO Board and its committees, CACO downloads like mobile and Zoom backgrounds, and the Class Officer Toolkit that offers a wealth of information including officer roles and responsibilities, checklists, timelines, guidelines, best practices, videos, the new “Connecting with Your Class Through Surveys”, and more.

In response to a request from the Board of Trustees that all Cornell volunteers receive university-wide onboarding, Cornell’s Office of Volunteer Programs created a series on onboarding sessions that can be viewed at your convenience. Whether you are new to volunteerism in general, new to your current class officer role, or a seasoned volunteer, please review the 3 onboarding training sessions to keep up-to-date on volunteer best practices and opportunities.

Join the CACO Facebook group to get breaking news and connect with other volunteers.  Members of this group are current and former class officers for their Cornell class. Members are encouraged to post relevant content and comments. Also, join the new CACO Instagram page, CACO_Cornell.

Alumni Affinity Programs recently launched a new webpage. Learn more about how Cornellians can benefit from connecting to alumni affinity networks, and how Cornell can support active shared interest groups. Reach out to affinity@cornell.edu and let us know what your group has been up to!
