Hello Class Officers. Happy New Year! I hope that your holidays were joyful. As we kick off 2024, there are several updates I want to share with you. Keep reading for details on the Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference (CALC), Red Hot Hockey, our CACO Annual Meeting, and more!

I begin this year with gratitude for all of you as class officers. On behalf of the CACO Board, we are thankful for all that you do to foster alumni engagement among your classmates. Don’t forget to share stories about how you are making a positive impact in your community through the “Good Cornellians Can Do" initiative, we would love to hear from you!

As always, feel free to reach out to us with questions or ideas at caco@cornell.edu. Your class liaison on the CACO Board is also always ready to listen.

Thank you for your service to your class and to Cornell.

All my best,
Julie Vultaggio ’02

P.S. The 2024 Alumni Trustee Election candidates were recently announced. Voting is open February 1- 29, and your voice matters! Please be sure to vote next month!

Cornell Alumni Leaders Conference (CALC)

Registration is now open for CALC on February 23-25 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel. CALC 2024 will feature:

Optional Friday morning tours of local sites including Baltimore’s National Aquarium
Networking sessions to up your game
Skill building with campus and alumni leaders
Keynotes and panels from Cornell’s best and brightest

CALC is our signature alumni volunteer leader event each year. We hope to see you there! There also are several venues near the hotel in which to host class events; be in touch if you need help organizing. Please encourage your fellow class officers to attend.

Red Hot Hockey

Cornell Hockey was victorious against Boston University at Madison Square Garden on November 25th by a score of 2-1. Congratulations to the team and we are grateful to everyone who cheered them on! Many thanks as well to the 28 classes plus Chorus and Glee Club who purchased ~1,500 tickets to this year’s game and organized events around Red Hot Hockey. This was a big jump from 2022, which hosted 16 class blocks! This is a great time to organize class events so mark your calendars for the next Frozen Apple Hockey on November 23, 2024.

Reunion 2024

Reunion 2024 is scheduled for June 6-9. We will welcome back the 4s and 9s, and our diverse alumni associations including the Cornell Asian Alumni Association (CAAA), the Cornell Black Alumni Association (CBAA), the Cornell Latino Alumni Association (CLAA), the Cornell Native American Alumni Association (CNAAA), and Cornell Pride, with special events for Cornell Military Network (CMN), First Generation alumni, and Cornell Mosaic. Keep in mind that you can attend Reunion as a part of Non-Reunion Year, or celebrate Reunion every year as part of the Continuous Reunion Club (CRC). Stay tuned for additional details and registration in the months ahead!

CACO Committee Updates

The CACO Board Committees are actively working to support you as class officers and “Do the Greatest Good”.

The Communications Committee publishes the CACO Newsletter bi-monthly and maintains the Facebook and (new) CACO Cornell Instagram pages. Members of these groups are current and former class officers who use these sites to get breaking news, connect with other volunteers, and post relevant content and comments.

The Diversity and Inclusion Committee is working on alumni spotlights highlighting the experience of diverse Cornellians. The committee continues its work in curating DEI resources for class officers. The D&I committee recently met with the Cornell AAD’s Diversity Alumni Programs team to discuss ways that the committee can support and amplify awareness and participation in Reunion 2024. Plans to celebrate with the classes of '4s and '9s and diverse alumni associations are underway!

The Class Officer Training Committee offered office hours for new class officers and recently held a peer-to-peer session on best practices around class participation in Red Hot Hockey at Madison Square Garden. They’re also working on developing a model constitution for classes to use when updating or creating their own.

The Students and Young Alumni Committee is turning their attention to CALC (Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference), where CACO will be supporting the next generation of Cornell leaders by sponsoring some attendance costs for student and young alumni class officers. They also look forward to celebrating the second cohort of Robert S. Harrison ‘76 Recent Alumni Volunteer Award winners, a recognition initiated by the committee last year.
