President's Message

by Brian Levine '05, President

Hello from NYC! On behalf of the Class officers, we appreciate you reading through our annual newsletter and many thanks to Kelly Ruggles ’05 for compiling all these updates. It’s been another successful year for our class, with the Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference in San Diego in February where we met up with fellow classmates and had a successful happy hour at the hotel bar. We also organized a block of seats at the biennial Red Hot Hockey game at Madison Square Garden with discounts for dues payers. Finally, can you believe our 20-year (!) reunion is just a little over a year away? Planning will start to kick off this summer and we will keep everybody updated as it gets closer.

Follow us on InstagramFacebook and LinkedIn to keep engaged over the next year. As always, feel free to email me with any questions or comments at bl76@cornell.edu. Hope you all have a great year ahead!

20-year reunion

Believe it or not, our 20-year reunion is only one year away. Reunion 2025 will take place on June 5-8 2025 – so be sure to mark your calendars! We have extra celebrating to do this time around after our 15-year reunion was moved virtual so let’s make this one a weekend to remember. And if you don’t yet pay dues, now’s a great time to start! Help us support our class and our next reunion by signing up here

Class Scholarship

Did you know our Class has a scholarship that provides undergraduate support for seniors at Cornell? This year, the scholarship was given to a senior in the College of Arts & Sciences majoring in Computer Science, with support of over $2,000! Thank you for everyone who contributed last year, helping us successfully hit our donation goal of raising $1,500 from 15 donors. This year, help us reach an endowment of over $100,000 by contributing to the fund. Contribute here

 Red Hot Hockey

This year’s Red Hot Hockey game against Boston University was an exciting one to watch, with Cornell winning 2-1, and posting their 4th consecutive victory in the biennial tradition. The Class of 2005 reserved a block of tickets at the game with a great view of the goal. This year we offered a dues payer discount of $10 for the seats. Thank you for your support and we plan to do the same again this upcoming year.

Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference (CALC)

Last February, the Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference was held in sunny San Diego, California. 2005 attendants included class officers Erica Kagan, Brian Levine, Tom Balcerski, and classmate Reza Mahmoodshahi. A big highlights of the conference was a rooftop happy hour and networking event, where we learned about the evolution of the Cornell Library in the digital age with a spotlight on student experience. Our class also organized a happy hour at the hotel lounge with classmates Christine Rhee, Sarah (Perkins) Latimer, and Molly McGovern. It was a fantastic night for all!

CALC 2024 is headed to Baltimore on February 23-25.  We will likely organize a Class dinner or drinks for anybody who is in the area so please to reach out if you’re interested in joining!
