Time to Register for Reunion!

Our 45th Reunion on June 6-9, 2024 is quickly approaching (see the countdown) and Reunion co-chairs Cindy Green and Larry Stone have planned another memorable event.

Let’s celebrate! Look forward to Reunion favorites and our special events:

  • Our celebration begins Thursday with a buffet dinner at our headquarters in the brand-new Hu Shih Hall on North Campus (see it here)

  • On Friday morning, attend our class forum “Democratic Resilience Globally,” co-sponsored with the Cornell Brooks School of Public Policy.

  • Our Reunion Brochure is downloadable here.

Quick link to the online registration page is up and running. There are more highlights and details on your central source for the latest info, the REUNION 2024 tab on this site.

Campus Climate - Reunion Expectations

Our Reunion section contains a page with up-to-date resources describing the campus response to the Israel-Gaza conflict since October 7, 2023.

Class Sponsored Giving Opportunities

In honor of our 45th Reunion in 2024, our goal is to engage 450 dues paying members for the 2023-24 fiscal year. To add some fun and anticipation, we picked one classmate from the proverbial hat from dues-paying members for each quarter of the year, to win $300 toward Reunion fees. Michael Furman was our final winner! The annual dues are $30 for individual and $50 for Cornell couples—unchanged from last year.

Our class is also raising money for the Class of 1979 Library Endowment and the Class of 1979 Memorial Scholarship Fund, which we hope you’ll support. Contributions to both these funds and class dues are tax-deductible.

The Library Endowment (click to donate) was established during our 20th Reunion year to help fund digitization. The most recent purchase from the Library Fund was Cambridge Histories, an essential reference collection spanning 350 volumes in 10 subject areas: political and cultural history, literature, philosophy, religious studies, music, and the arts.

The Memorial Scholarship (click to donate) is devoted to honoring deceased classmates by awarding scholarships to undergraduate students. This year’s scholarship recipient, Emma O'Neill ’24, will be graduating in June with a mechanical engineering degree from the College of Engineering. She plans to continue with a M.Eng. degree after graduation and is grateful for our class's financial support. Learn more about Emma here!

Dues and contributions to the Class of 1979 funds can be made online by going to the Cornell website at this link. Those wishing to auto-renew annual dues can select that option and Cornell will automatically charge your credit card on July 1 and each year thereafter. And, if you change your mind, no problem—just advise Cornell at classdues@cornell.edu. Those classmates who have already signed up for auto-renew do not need to take any additional action; their registered credit card will be charged on July 1. Dues payers will also receive exclusive discounts via the Big Red Marketplace, where you can find great discounts on everything from hotels to car rentals to restaurant discounts.

We invite you to become a class dues payer and encourage you to participate in an upcoming class activity, event, or special project, and definitely Reunion 2024. We are grateful for the connections that being part of the Cornell family has afforded our class. Stay connected through our social media (links at top of the page), stay well and GO BIG RED!
